Biography

Sir Everton DeCourcy Weekes was the most destructive of the fabled “3Ws”, a batsman of ferocious power and impeccable timing who tormented the finest bowling attacks of his generation.

In 1948–49 he set a world record that still stands unmatched — five centuries in five consecutive Test innings. His appetite for runs and his fearless stroke-play made him one of the premier batsmen of the post-war era and a hero to a rising Caribbean nation.

Knighted for his services to cricket, Weekes remained a beloved ambassador of the game long after retirement, embodying the pride and possibility that Empire Club was founded to nurture.
