Biography
Emmanuel Alfred “Manny” Martindale was the tip of the West Indies pace spear in the 1930s — genuinely quick, hostile, and a handful for the world’s best batsmen.
He led the attack on the West Indies tours of England and made his mark in an era when Caribbean fast bowling was first announcing itself on the global stage. His pace and heart made him one of Empire’s most celebrated sons.
For his lifelong contribution to the club and the game, Martindale was recognised as an Honorary Life Member of Empire.
