Lionel Gittens

Lionel Gittens was among the group of determined men who founded Empire Club in 1914, choosing to build something new rather than accept the exclusion of colonial Barbados.

A former Spartan member, he brought organisational experience that helped establish Empire on firm foundations in its earliest days.

His name is written into the very origins of the club, one of the pioneers of the Empire story.
