Charlie Griffith

Charles Christopher Griffith was one of the most feared fast bowlers of the 1960s, generating searing pace that unsettled the very best batsmen in the world.

In a celebrated new-ball partnership with Wes Hall, he formed the backbone of a West Indies attack that struck fear into opposition dressing rooms and carried the Caribbean side to famous victories.

His bond with Empire endured long after his playing days — he went on to serve as President of the club, giving back to the institution that shaped him.
